SWITCHFOOT RESPONDS TO SAN DIEGO'S FLAMES

NEWS SOURCE: Switchfoot; Jesusfreakhideout.com
October 25, 2007

Switchfoot As the tragedy of the wildfires devastate parts of San Diego, California, frontman of SD native rock band Switchfoot, Jon Foreman, recently commented on the disaster to fans...

"Hi all,
It's been a crazy week, so hard to be away from the ones you love in a crisis like this. A big chunk of of my hometown of San Diego burned down this week. A strange birthday present indeed. Thank you for all of your support and prayers.

In a week filled with such dark news from home, I have found a few really bright spots.

A. Being out on a tour that gives a buck a ticket to Habitat for Humanity, (an organization that builds homes for people who need them) has never felt more appropriate. Please get involved: http://www.habitat.org/cd/local/

B. Playing a song called "Rebuild" that Matt Thiessen and I wrote for Habitat a few hours before his bus burned down has never felt more appropriate.

C. Seeing my hometown really come together and help each other has been great. I'm sure everyone has a certain amount of pride in their hometown, to see my hometown neighbors helping each other out in an awful situation means so much to me.

So, thanks for taking care of my family and my hometown while I'm gone." - Jon

Foreman celebrated his 31st birthday on Monday the 22nd. Below is a photo from Switchfoot.com...
